Ipad vs Macbook vs Netbook?
I need to buy a portable internet surfing device, but I am really stumped. I need it mainly to type articles in word (I am a News Reporter for the school newspaper), but I will also be using the internet alot. Here are my reasons for each device:
Ipad: Mobility, Attachable full Keyboard dock, microsoft word type processor (called pages), long battery, lots of gaming apps. NO FLASH PLAYER.
Macbook: It has literally everything one could need. Very Pricey though, and not very portable
Netbook: Known not to be very fast, Cheap, Sometimes small cramped keyboard, I am not a big fan of windows. HAS FLASH PLAYER.
Help me!
well, here’s yet another conflicting answer to your question.
i have the iPad, as well as a MacBook Pro and an iMac. while the iPad is def a niche item, it might just work well for you.
i travel often & need to bring a “computer” with me nearly everywhere for email, surfing & blogging. Up until i got my iPad, i dreaded traveling with my 17″ MBP. it’s big, can’t be used in coach class and nightmare to have to deal with during security. The iPad has changed everything: it’s small, fully functional and doesn’t need to be removed from bags during airport screening.
i use it around the house all the time, and find it a pleasure to use. When typing longer articles…the attached keyboard (or bluetooth model) works amazingly well.
if you have another mac at home, there are iPad apps that make it simple to remote into them (where you can have full access to your programs). That’s what i do.
as for microsoft word, i uses pages (which is great), but know that google docs also exists (as well as many apps to get those files easier) should i need it.
overall, i think the iPad would suffice. have more questions? by all means, ask:
