It’s almost summer and that means barbecues and lots of watermelon. Try barbecuing your watermelon for a fun savory twist. This will become a staple at every backyard event. Grilled watermelon is so simple and your guest will think you are amazing.
Since we go through a lot of watermelons over the summer, I picked up this slicer to speed up the prep job. Giving it a test before the first guest arrive, here are my thoughts. It cuts the melon in even slices easily, once you figure out to stay away from the rind. I can see how slicing through a larger melon would work a bit smoother and there would be less waste. It will take a little practice, but once you get the hang of slicing, it’s easy enough to grab maximum fruit. I typically use a melon baller for the remaining melon and use it over ice cream or in a cocktail. I had no problem lifting out my cut pieces afterwards, simply squeeze the sides and lift.
