BBQ Watermelon Recipie and Stainless Steel Watermelon Slicer Review

posted in: Recipie, Review | 0

It’s almost summer and that means barbecues and lots of watermelon.  Try barbecuing your watermelon for a fun savory twist.   This will become a staple at every backyard event.   Grilled watermelon is so simple and your guest will think you are amazing.

Since we go through a lot of watermelons over the summer, I picked up this slicer to speed up the prep job.  Giving it a test before the first guest arrive, here are my thoughts.  It cuts the melon in even slices easily, once you figure out to stay away from the rind.  I can see how slicing through a larger melon would work a bit smoother and there would be less waste.  It will take a little practice, but once you get the hang of slicing, it’s easy enough to grab maximum fruit.    I typically use a melon baller for the remaining melon and use it over ice cream or in a cocktail.  I had no problem lifting out my cut pieces afterwards, simply squeeze the sides and lift.  See recipe and pictures below.

Crumble up Feta cheese.

In a salad bowl, combine watermelon, bread, tomatoes, feta cheese.
Slice up 4-5 fresh basil leaves and gently mix in with 1 tablespoon good quality olive oil and 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze (or balsamic if you don’t have glaze)   This can be served as an appetizer or perfect warm summer dessert. This can be served as an appetizer or perfect warm summer dessert.
